How is Osteoporosis Treated?
There are ways to treat
Osteoporosis.
Patients at risk for osteoporosis (e.g.
those who take steroids for any length
of time) are generally treated with
vitamin D and calcium
supplements.
In osteoporosis (or a very high risk,
there are a number of drugs your
physician will prescribe which can
improve the situation.
Estrogen replacement remains a good
treatment for prevention of
osteoporosis but, at this time, is not
recommended unless there are other
indications for its use as well.
